Hidden Treasures of Europe The Allgua It is in The Allgua that the German hills become the Alps. This is a beautiful area with gently rolling plains rising up to meet the most wonderful of mountains. Basilicas with magnificent Baroque style archetecture stand ready for inspection. there is also a spa where health and well being are enhanced by the use of local waters. Parks featuring birds of prey; a city that calls itself “the costume jewelery capital of the world” and the castle of Ludwig II of Bavaria which is a monument to excess, are a few of the locations to be explored and remembered.

Thuringin This area of Germany is located in what was once the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). Here we find the famed Wartburg Castle, which was contructed around the year 1150. martin Luther hid in this castle for almost a year. Johan Sebastian Bach lived and worked here. There is a church where the young composer once played the organ. The countryside is often covered by sheep, honey bees and fruits and vegetables for local dinner tables.
